                                       Dropshipping in India?

Hey,welcome to Online Bullseye and in this post I am going to burst myth on dropshipping which is sometimes believed to be a scam in India. So lets burst some myth.......

What is a dropshipping?

Let us understand what exactly is Dropshipping. This modal of business have gained popularity in most part of the world as internet got cheaper and easily available its now like food, clothing, shelter and Internet. Firstly, just wanted to be clear that not only the business could be done through online mode but also through physical modes like a brick and mortar shop.

In Dropshipping the retailer tries to sell a product which he actually do not possess or warehouse instead he would be having product images, descriptions and price details which he will showcase for example on an online store and markets the product through any marketing medium like Facebook marketing or any digital marketing. Once, a buyers makes the purchase and payment is done, the order is received by the retailer  he will then place an order with the supplier or the wholesaler and then they directly ship the product to the customer without the dropshipper having the headache of warehousing and shipping from his end.

So  the retailer gets his share of profit, customer gets his desired product at his doorstep and the wholesaler get his products sold so a win win situation for all. Please find the below diagram with figures to better understand

From the discussions till now you will be able to understand that dropshipping is nothing else but a normal business. I would say its a kind of service wherein the dropshipper makes readily available a product which adds value to the customers for a profit the only difference he is not holding the products physically. So why it have got this notoriety of being a scam.

Negative side of Dropshipping

Whenever the customers understands that he could have purchased the product at a low rate from a manufacturer directly he/she will definitely feel the pinch and a feeling of being cheated that is the reason most of the dropshippers gives clear instruction to not mention their brand logo or any info of the wholesaler on the package.

Its always advisable to try samples of the products first then try to sell them to the customer as the genuineness of the product can't be predicted as the product  does not pass through the retailer/dropshipper. Its often noted that the quality or functioning of the product does not match with the descriptions vouched.

There are many cases of scam in past which have almost blacklisted this business also many payment providers (Paypal, Payumoney,stripe) do not support dropshipping in some countries. We cant blame them because there have been many instance wherein the dropshipper starts online shops display  there products and when there are many order in 100's or 1000's of dollars they close their store and go absconding with all the money. 

How to succeed in dropshipping 

Firstly you should have  patience don't think or build a hope as the fake you tube or online experts promise that you can start your business and become rich overnight. 

Secondly, have a lot of research  at least for 2 months before jumping in to it. Identify which niche you have to work on, the success will be quick if the product has lot of demand and the competition is less. So spend most of the time in research.

Third, hire an expert or have a discussion and take his guidance and advice.

Fourth, develop a website that is super awesome and professional which could easily get the trust of the website visitors who are potential client.

Fifth, perform as you promise its that simple and try to keep your customer happy.

Sixth,  you have to think how to market the product FB and insta are easy way but you will flush those dollars overnight if not done correctly. Study thoroughly as said earlier I feel its mandatory to have help of an expert who could  provide insights of  fb ads and insta promotions. 

Last, this is something that most dropshippers neglect and hate but this is super important its nothing else but SEO. Have a good web hosting company like shopify. Google SEO is not that difficult you have to do some settings in google and some patience for few months to see your website popping up in the search engine results and then hola!! your website starts getting organic traffic.

Verdict

So my conclusion is that dropship is not a scam but a normal business as usual which requires a lot of efforts planning, strategy and investments
